Tips to Save on your Healthy Snacks
Here is my receipt from yesterday’s shopping trip at Sprouts. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am passionate about “eating healthy without breaking the bank.” If you follow along with my instagram stories, you know I posted my healthy snacks which I packaged at home instead of purchasing them pre-packaged at the store. I shared that this was a great way to save money on healthy snacks because we pay for convenience. Many of my followers were inspired by my packaging and explained that they were hoping to do the same.
Well I wanted to expound on one of the tips I shared regarding buying snacks in larger quantities. When you purchase the items from the bulk section at your local grocery store or farmers market, you’ll notice things like almonds, walnut, berries, are often pretty expensive. You easily spend $6.99 for one pound. If you notice in the photo of my receipt I did not spend full price on any of the items I purchased. Mainly because I didn’t get a pound on any the snacks I purchased.
A good rule of thumb is to stay “under the pound.” Even if the item is $3.99 like the Raw Almonds on my receipt, my goal is to stay under 1 Ib.. because I am also planning to purchase other nuts as well; And if I get one pound of all the nuts, it’s going to get pricey! Therefore, if I stay under the pound for all my items, I get more variety and I stay within my grocery budget which is usually about $35 for two weeks or $15 per week. Try this method the next time you shop and let me know if you save!
